IAS Officer Keerthi Jalli Walks In Mud In Flood Affected Areas, Earns Praise

Indian bureaucracy is often accused of clinging to the colonial era where the ‘babus’ behave like feudal lords and treat common people as serfs. These babus often forget that they are public servants and start behaving like masters of the common people. Yet, there are a handful of sincere and compassionate bureaucrats who serve the people with utmost humility and dedication.  Keerthi Jalli, a young IAS officer serving in Assam as the district commissioner of Cachar district has gone viral for walking in mud and riding boats in turbulent waters while supervising relief operations in flood affected areas.

Keerthi’s photographs and videos while visiting the flood affected areas have gone viral on social media and she has earned praise for her gesture.
