The Iconic Ambassador Car Is Coming Back In This New Avatar
The Ambassador car manufactured by Hindustan Motors was the most iconic car in India for decades. it used to a be a sign of novelty and every VVIP used to use it. In other words it was the official car of India. In the 70s the Ambassador had 75 percent of market share in the Indian automobile market. But with the introduction of technologically advanced and more stylish cars in the market, the Ambassador gradually became redundant. Eventually Hindustan Motors stopped manufacturing the car.
In 2017, the French car manufacturer Groupe PSA bought the Ambassador brand and now it is going to make a comeback as an EV. The car will be manufactured at the Hindustan Motors’ production facility in Chennai.
