Irish MEP’s Speech Against Western Hypocrisy On Terrorism Earns Praise
From sponsoring Pakistan and Pakistan based terrorist outfits or providing shelter and support to Khalistani terrorists in their offensives against India to the creation of numerous terrorist organisations like Taliban the Western countries have a dubious track record. The US and other western countries have been notorious in their support to terrorist outfits in the non-Western world while simultaneously delivering lectures on world peace. The support for military dictatorships and banana republics with the sole aim of destabilising Asia and Africa is a policy actively pursued by these self-styled guardians of democracy, human rights and peace.
Time and again the leaders from Asia, Latin America and Africa have been critical of Western hypocrisy on terrorism. The rift between the condescending West and the rest of the world has widened after the Ukrain war and blatant display of double standards by the Western world on the issue. Even the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Jaishankar has lambasted the West on several occasions.
While the majority of the Western world including journalists and orators are unabashed about their hypocrisy, a voice from the West is now gaining popularity in Asia and Africa. Irish Memeber of European Parliament Clare Daly has been critical of the Western double standards on issues like terrorism. While Clare gets very little coverage in mainstream Western Media, one of her recent speeches has gone viral on the internet.
In the speech delivered in the European Parliament, Daly called out Western hypocrisy in a refreshingly unambiguous tone while speaking against the European efforts to send more arms to Ukrain.
“ State sponsor of terrorism is a term of US law. It does not exist in EU law. But a Zelensky advisor called for it in the Parliament magazine and here we are again reporting for duty. And all it will do is make peace harder to achieve. ..”
She further said, “If you want to name state sponsors of terrorism let us do it. European sponsorship of Israeli terrorism in Palestine. Western sponsorship of Saudi terrorism in Yemen. ISIS, the product of French, American, British, Turkish and Gulf sponsorship in Syria and Iraq. Decades of right wing US backed terrorism against the Cuban revolution. The Contrast in Nicaragua. The death squads in Guatemala, in El Salvador. Remember Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. Horror after horror, terror after terror. There is nothing constructive about the pot calling the cattle black. Would you ever cop on Start championing peace and an end to the war which is patently in the interests of EU, Ukrainian and Russian citizens”

Clare’s speech has earned praise especially in African, Latin American and Asian countries which have been victims of Western sponsorship of terrorism.
